About Matt
I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, and have lived in the southern California region since 2003. I have one teenage son who really enjoys playing basketball and keeping me busy! I love the ocean and all things in and on the water including sailing. Before my career started in insurance I was a personal fitness trainer and gym owner for 12 years. The transition from a fitness coach to an insurance agent may seem very different but in a lot of ways, they have a similar goal- maintaining and optimizing one’s health.
I got started in the insurance business in 2022 through a friend of mine who has a long career in this industry specializing his business in Medicare. He has been an excellent mentor and I am extremely grateful to work alongside him.
What I like most about the Medicare business is meeting people and helping them with a very important issue with their health. I find this work to be very rewarding and feel fortunate to be involved in this area of insurance.

Understanding the ABCs of Medicare
Medicare is divided into four main parts:
Part A
Hospital insurance, covering inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing care, and some home healthcare.
Part B
Medical insurance, covering outpatient care, preventive services, and doctor visits.
Part C
Medicare Advantage Plans, offering an alternative to Original Medicare with additional benefits.
Part D
Prescription drug coverage, provided by private insurers.
Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C)
Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private insurance companies and often include extra benefits like vision, dental, and wellness programs. Many Los Angeles-area residents find these plans more cost-effective and convenient. I’ll help you compare Medicare Advantage Plans to determine if one is right for you.
Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap)
Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap) help cover out-of-pocket costs not paid by Original Medicare, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. If you want peace of mind with fewer unexpected medical expenses, a Medigap plan might be the right choice.
Medicare Part D: Prescription Drug Coverage
Medicare Part D covers prescription medications and is essential for those who take regular prescriptions. I’ll explain how Part D works, what formularies are, and how to choose a plan that minimizes your drug costs.
Special Needs Plans (SNPs)
For individuals with specific health conditions or limited incomes, Special Needs Plans (SNPs) provide tailored coverage to meet unique medical needs. If you qualify, I can help you find and enroll in the right plan.
Medicare Enrollment Periods
Knowing when to enroll or make changes to your Medicare coverage is critical. Here are the key enrollment periods:
- Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): Begins three months before you turn 65 years old and lasts for seven months.
- Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 – December 7, when you can switch plans.
- Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs): If you experience qualifying life events, you may be eligible to enroll outside of standard periods.
I’ll help you stay informed so you never miss an important deadline.
